St.Isaac's orthodox cathedral was the main temple of the city while Saint Petersburg was the capital of Russian Empire. The huge and majestic cathedral's building impress with its marble colonnade with angels statues and giant golden cupola. Cathedral was under construction for 25 years on the project of the French architect August Montferrand. The second important temple of St.Petersburg is the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood constructed on the place of the tsar Alexander II assassination by terrorists, hence the name on the church - on the Spilled Blood. To commemorate the memory of the killed tsar, it has been decided to build church which became an outstanding monument of Russian architecture.
