Description

You will be impressed with the most brilliant emperors' palaces.

Full-day grand tour will take you to all the most beautiful suburban palaces in Peterhof, Pushkin and Pavlovsk. Someone can say it is hard to visit so many palaces and parks in one day but it is really precious if you have just couple of days in St.Petersburg. One of the palaces named after the most powerful Russian Empress Catherine's Palace is located in town of Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo - means "Tzars’ village"). Exciting azure facades of baroque style and numerous luxurious imperial halls and ballrooms will impress anyone. The charming parks and small pavillions that surround the palace are amazing. Catherine's palace is decorated with rare marble, malachite, gilding but the real masterpiece is the famous Amber room, the unique object of Russian art. The next palace is situated near Pushkin in the town of Pavlovsk. A superb palace and park ensemble, Pavlovsk was a summer residence of the Russian emperor Paul I and his family. The landscape park, one of the largest in Europe, covers an area of 600 hectares. The formation of the Pavlovsk Palace collections was closely connected with the journey by its owners through Europe. They visited workshops of well-known artists, ordering and acquiring paintings, furniture, bronze articles, silk fabrics, china sets, etc. They also brought back to Russia a large number of antique sculptures from Italy, and gifts from European royal courts. Many of these treasures are on view, together with an excellent collection of portraits by Russian artists, and a number of Pavlovsk landscape paintings and drawings. And the third magnificent palace is Grand Palace in Peterhof. It was built by the order of Empress Catherine the Great and was her favorite suburban residence. Grand Palace is huge building of baroque style, the symbol of wealth and power of Russian emperors' dynasty. Fountains of Peterhof is the most beautiful park in St.Petersburg suburbs. The park is located on the shore of Gulf of Finland which is connected with Baltic sea. Park surrounds the luxurious Grand palace of Empress Catherine the Great, and its huge area is filled with wonderful fountains. Each fountain is unique but the outstanding one is no doubt the Big cascade complex with Samson statue in the center of composition. Please note that fountains are closed from mid October till mid April.
